About 3rd Grade-
Third Grade Curriculum Focus:
Reading Goals: Our core reading goals are to increase fluency and vocabulary based on individual reading levels. We use ‘Wonders’ which include our grade level spelling and grammar focus. Students also take tests on Accelerated Reader (AR) - They are encouraged to do so weekly or bi-weekly, depending on their independent level/book they are reading.
Math Goals: Our core math goals are to master multiplication and division facts (1-12), understand fractions (vocabulary and recognizing fractions less than and greater than or equal to one), telling time, understanding elapsed time, identify the area and perimeter of various shapes, as well as an introduction to geometry (recognizing various shapes with various dimensions).
Writing Goals: Our writing goal is to write more descriptive paragraphs that follow proper paragraph format and structure. Students will be writing multi-paragraph essays which contain an introductory paragraph, 2-3 detailed paragraphs and a concluding paragraph.
Social Studies Goals: In 3rd Grade, we explore early American settlements, geography and learn more about being a responsible citizen within our community.
